1.   Dinton Pastures Country Park- Berkshire

2.   Royal Air Force Museum-London

3.   Science Museum-London

A great London attraction with so much to see at this exciting museum. Film show, IMAX 3D Cinema, more than 40 galleries and 3D underwater adventure. 4.   Imperial War Museum-London

The museum consists of the life back in WW1 and WW2. Complete with trenches, sounds and smells of London during the air raids. Current exhibitions is The Children’s War. A major exhibition looking at the home front in Britain through the eyes of the children. Also exhibiting, until March 2009 is the work of Ian Fleming. 5.   The Donkey Sanctuary-Sidmouth

This marvellous Donkey Sanctuary is home to 400 rescued donkeys. Meet the donkeys and you can also stroll along the various field walks or ramble down to the sea, pausing at the Nature Centre and conservation area on the way. There’s a donkey quiz for children. 6.   Rutland Water- Rutland Midlands

Something for the whole family with over 3,100- acres to explore making it a great family day out. You can all have a picnic, go for a walk, cycle or wall climbing. There’s  an aquatic centre plus the world’s famous Nature reserve in Egleton.

7.   Stafford Castle- Stafford

Stafford Castle was built by William the Conqueror. Explore the castle ruins and soak up the panoramic views. Programmes are organised throughout year and includes the Stafford Festival Shakespeare production each summer within this 900 year old castle.

8.  Roman Legionary Museum  South Wales

Step back in time and discover Caerleon the fortress which guarded the region of Wales for over 200 years. Today at the National Roman Legion Museum you can learn what made the Romans a formidable force and how life wouldn't be the same without them.

9.  Royal Armouries Museum West Yorkshire

Shoot a crossbow, and get the kids learning about arms and armour from around the world. The museum houses five themed galleries. Watch amazing displays in the summer months!

10. Northwich Community Woodlands  Northwich

This park consists of 200 acres of woodland a large lake with self- guided trails. Pack a picnic and take the family off orienteering.

11.  Rivacre Valley Local Nature Reserve Cheshire

Stunning woodlands with guided walks, have a picnic in the colourful meadows. Children can run around and explore the beautiful landscape.

12.  Reddish Vale Country Park - Stockport

A favourite for the locals for many years. Beautiful countryside offering a variety of walks in varying lengths and cycle trails. Wildlife habitat make it a school trip haven. 13.  Walton Hall Gardens- Warrington

You can spend a few hours here keeping the kids amused with woodland trails, spacious lawns, picnic areas crazy pitch, ornamental gardens plus a special play area for the kiddies. If you enjoy country walks you can start at the beautiful gardens. Footpaths are way marked to local beauty spots such as Hill Cliffe. A great day out for all the family.

14.  Bolton Aquarium- Bolton

Bolton Aquarium is unique as its the UK’s first freshwater Aquarium. Streams, rivers and lakes are the natural habitat for the marine fish.

Each aquarium are cleverly designed to show true marine life. You can watch the fish at feeding time, staff members are happy to answer any questions you may have. A great day out and its free!

15.Haigh Country Park- Wigan

An ideal family day out with woodland trails, view across Douglas valley, Welsh Hill and beautiful parkland. Events and activities.  Make sure you go on a Sunday, there is Free afternoon entertainment. Take a picnic and enjoy! Visit their site to download a free map of the country park.

16.Castlefield Urban Heritage Park & visitor Centre- Manchester

Designed as Britain’s first Urban Heritage Park. The park includes a museums, a canal, boat trips, waterside pubs, events in the outdoor arena. So much to explore you will have to check out the website and plan a great kids day out.

17.National Football Museum- Preston

A real journey through the game of football. The museum is split into different levels with the first covering the history of the game. While the second level or second half provides exciting hands on interactives. Become a panelist on Match of the Day or visit the footy Fun Zone and play the penalty shoot out game. Great stuff to download for a good day out and virtual tour of the museum.

18. Liverpool Planetarium- Liverpool

Get a free ticket for the 30 min show at the Planetarium, the theatre of the universe. Show covers various aspects of the solar system and space, with special children shows also. An exciting experience for all the family.

19. Saltwell Park - Gateshead

Award Winning Victorian Park attracts over 2 million visitors a year. It encompasses 55 acres of landscapes, woodland and ornamental gardens as well as public sports facilities, a refreshment house, a lake, play areas, bowling greens, Saltwell Towers, the animal house, an education centre and a maze. Truly a beautiful place you must visit!

20.Discovery Museum- Newcastle

Discover all about life in Newcastle and Tyneside. Changing technology and fashion. A great place to learn and have fun with interactive displays and lots of free learning activities.

21.Stephenson Railway Museum-North Shields

A great opportunity to re live the steam railway days at Stephensen Railway Museum. You can take a ride on the steam train and find out the impact of coal and electricity on ordinary people lives. Fun activities and great exhibitions.

22. Lamont City Farm- Glasgow

Not just any old farm Lamont City Farm homes Nigerian pygmy goats, Chinese geese and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. A weekly kids club and under 5s play area encourages children to play and get to know the farm. Children help with grooming, tree planting and wildflower gardening.

23. Peoples Palace-Glasgow

Find out about the city of Glasgow and its people from 1760 to the present. Painting’s, prints, photographs and heaps of artifacts, bring this city to life. Visit the 'single end' and discover how a family lived in this typical one-room Glasgow tenement family home of the 1930s. Attached to the Museum is the beautiful winter gardens.

24.  Hirsel Country Park Coldstream - Hirsel

A full day out can be spent at Coldstream. A variety of walks along the river or woodlands. Explore the museum and craft shop covering country life past and present. There is a  children’s play area and picnic site. Apart from Christmas day the Tearoom is open serving delicious home cooked food. Sunday lunch is available.

25.  Toll Cross Children’s Farm- Glasgow

Children will enjoy this farm with lots to see plus their usual farm yard favourites. Check out the Story Cock Robin, visitors are welcome to watch it and its in 3D.
